Wellness Wednesday

 

Sprinkles- is scheduled to have a amputation on Tuesday 5/24. Her leg has not healed at all and remains broken with only the pin to support the leg. We are hopeful that her FIV status will not cause delayed healing post op as it has with the fracture.

C06 Great Pyrenees- has an old injury causing a chronically dislocated left hip. We are performing an FHO (femoral head osteotomy) on Tuesday 5/24 which will remove the femoral head and allow the leg to heal without causing the constant pain that the dislocation likely causes. He was shaved and had multiple foxtail abscesses. He is on antibiotics for his skin and pain medication for his hip. He will hopefully be going to foster for his post op recovery.

Gator- continuing to improve and will likely be neutered soon and be available with a medical waiver for his skin condition that is not fully healed, but SO much better.

D01 A280083 Lhaso Apso X- she has a left cherry eye and is going to have that repaired at the time of her spay this Saturday and then available for adoption.

C3-22 Black cat A280085- is being treated with antibiotics for an abscess/bite wound on his right hock.

C3-08 Kittens (3 brown tabbys) – positive fecal for round worms. They have all been dewormed today and you may see worms in the stool over the next few days as they pass. I would expect the loose stool to improve after a few more days.

German Shepherd litter in Q-07/Q-08- we have a litter of 6 – 6 week old puppies that were surrendered. They are being treated for roundworms and coccidia and will be fixed and available once they are old enough.

Sapphire- I have pulled her off of the surgery schedule for now to monitor for a few more days. She seems to be slow to bounce back after the deworming from the large amount of roundworms that she has. She has gained ½ lb and is eating the canned food. She has been checked for additional parasites, parvo and giardia and is negative. I have her in cat room 4 so that she can be closely monitored.

C3-20 A280174 Grey/white- older neutered cat (no chip) was found as a stray and seems to not be in great shape. He has a bit of a distended abdomen and some dehydration when he arrived, but was examined locally and no major issues were noted on exam. We will monitor him throughout his stray hold and assess.

C3-14 A280171 Ragdoll- came in as a stray (neutered and no chip) with an abscess on the right side of his face and neck that will be treated.

C3 Orange and Torti kitten- have continued Giardia after treatment course and though stool appear normal now will be treated with additional medication to ensure giardia is resolved prior to alteration and adoption.
