Medical notes

National data

 Hey all,

I was in a web training the other day and saw this and wanted to share with all of you. It is not just us that has long term animals, it is the sign of the times. We can only do our best and keep pushing forward. Thank you all for your continued support of the shelter animals and all the extra help. If any of you have cute pics of the shelter animals and would like me to share them on social media feel free to email me. If you have time to write up a quick blurb to go with it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Kayla

Currrent medical animals

Shiloh (D12)- Shiloh is doing well with her recovery and is just waiting on time to heal. Shiloh will be going in for a follow up in the next few weeks and we will get more of an update at that time as to when her external hardware will be removed and a plan to try and get her adopted. Shiloh is allowed to go for walks and part of her healing is allowing her to walk and apply pressure on the leg without strenuous exercise.

Birdie (C1-08)- Birdie is finally healed after her month of cage rest and has an old fracture to her right femur. You may notice that her leg is a little different in feeling when touching or petting her, but she is healed and good to be adopted. Birdie may have a slight limp but does not require any follow up at this point. We will be adopting her out with a medical waiver.

Frankie (C1-05)- Frankie is available now for adoption. Frankie was surrendered by his owner when he was having a urinary blockage and unable to urinate. We treated Frankie and he does still have crystals in his urine and will need to on a urinary diet moving forward. Frankie should be an indoor only cat so that his future owner can continue to monitor his urination as the there is always a chance of reoccurrence.

Gator (E07)- Gator is slowly improving and continuing to regrow hair. His does still have an abundance of yeast and we have increased his medicated bathes to twice weekly. Gator is also being treated for a non- contagious form of mage called Demodex. We will be rechecking him in the next 2 weeks to decide on a continued treatment plan.

Sprinkles (C2)- Sprinkles has not healed as we had hoped with her pin and external fixator. We have removed the external hardware and she still have an internal pin that we will be rechecking in two weeks. If she has still made no improvement, we will be electing amputation of the limb since she has been dealing with a non healing break since November. The plus side to this is that she would be available for adoption likely within 2 weeks of that surgery. Sprinkles is FIV positive and will need to go to an only cat household. Her upper respiratory has responded well and she only has a few days of eye meds left.

Tula (Isolation)- Tula is our momma kitty with ringwork. She is responding well to the treatment. I would hope that within a few weeks we will get some negative follow up results and be able to place her up for adoption.

Medical concerns

We are trying out a new way to submit medical concerns instead of the clipboard. When you see a medical concern add a submissions with this QR code. To help you all see the follow up on basic medical we will be trying to post the results of the concerns weekly here on the blog. If you have any questions see Kayla.
