Remember Lily.....

 Hello,

It has been a week since we adopted Lily, and things are going great so far.  We’ve kept her and our other cat in separate parts of the house and have been gradually introducing their presence (scent, sound, brief visuals) to one another. Today they graduated to occupying the same room each entertained with their own toy and also eating at food bowls placed at a safe distance.  Lily has been clear about her boundaries with little hisses and growls when our other cat gets too near.

We are hopeful that they will continue down this path during the week ahead and develop a comfortable cat camaraderie.

Lily is a sweet cat.  She likes being petted.  She likes to play.  She loves treats.  She likes lounging around and sitting quietly near us when we are working.  I’ve caught her being interested in electrical cables but she responds to voice commands to leave things be.  She doesn’t like being held much, and she prefers to sleep under the bed which seems odd but not a deal breaker.

The final test is if she and our other cat can get along when not supervised.  Our other cat is like a border collie in a cat suit.  He is uber playful, laser focused, and interactive almost to a fault.  He is definitely looking for a pal though.  We sincerely hope we found one for him in Lily.

Will keep you posted!

Thank you all!

Thank you all for volunteering! Volunteer appreciation is not only a time for us to thank you for all your help but a time for you to thank each other.

There is a bulletin board at the shelter where we have started a collage with pictures of volunteers and some of the animals we have found homes for over the years. If you have a picture of your a fellow volunteer that you would like to add you can print it out and post it on the board or email it to me, letting me know you would like it posted and  I will do so for you.

Also, on this blog you have the ability to post comments. Below this post you should see "Post a Comment", click on that and please post something you appreciate about your fellow volunteers. It could be generalized or about a specific person.

Thanks again,
