Thanks

THANK YOU Bill, Susan and Penny for getting our 3 littles up to Muttville.

They updated me let me know they are all there safe and they are not certain if Curly is going to be adopted out or just put into hospice. He is already undergoing major medical treatments and they are pushing to do all they can to try to get rid of as much cancer as possible. They said he is happy and spry in his foster home and moving towards recovery!

Dog Enrichment Course: Email me if you are interested.
During enrichment we provide novel and interesting experiences for the shelter dogs, mental stimulation, sensory stimulation, socializing and play time for the shelter dogs.

Cat Enrichment Course: February 25th 3-5pm
All cat volunteers should consider planning on coming to this. This is where we are going to integrate the new cat cage cards into the shelter and work on a variety of new and old environment stimulations. Hopefully in our new shelter this program will expand, and I look forward to collaborating with all of you to help it grow.

Field Trip Training Series: First series starts on April 18th
Field trips are great way to get the animals away from the hustle and bustle of the shelter, have some fun and it even helps market the animals and the shelter. Field trips can be one of the easiest or hardest processes, you need to make sure you are prepared for all the different situations that the real world can bring. This is a 4-week course that is required to be done before you can take the shelter animals on field trips without staff. You need to have done at least the basic obedience series, but the reactive rover and advance series are recommended.

Good Dogma Courses:
Theses course are being ran by Lisa, the Good Dogma trainer, she has been training dogs since 1996. These courses are free for you to come to because they are funded by ASAP. This is a great value to help the shelter dogs be successful and you can even learn some great tips for you animals at home too. All of these classes are outdoors, social distanced, and mask required

Basic Obedience Course Series: First class of the series is March 5th at 4pm
This is a weekly class for 5 consecutive weeks, between 40-60 minutes long. You will be working with the Good Dogma trainer, Lisa, on leash walking, sit, down and come.

Advance Obedience Course Series: Email me if you are interest
This class is a 4 consecutive weekly class that are between 40-60 minutes long. You will be working with the Good Dogma trainer to review all the basic obedience skills previous learned, distance come, stay and if the dog is ready a heel.

Reactive Rover Class: Sunday, February 28th at 11am and Wednesday, March 3rd at 5pm but these are almost full so if you are interested please email me. This is a 1-hour workshop focusing on reactivity in dogs. How to walk reactive dogs and redirect the behavior to help improve their chance of adoption. It will also go over redirection in the kennel and territorial environments.

Thank you, ASAP, for providing the funding for the Good Dogma trainer!

If you do not have time to do the training on the days that are already set, please email me the date and time you are interested in and we can add more availabilities.

Curly

 Hey all,

There has been a lot of questions about Curly the little poodle mix. Just FYI he is not eligible for foster right now because his wound is being monitored by med staff. He had a round of antibiotics which appeared to help but as most of you know when the antibiotics stopped so did the improvement. So he has had a skin biopsy sent to the lab which can take up to five days to get results. When that is received, which will likely be next week, we will then know the recommended course of treatment. Thank you all for your concern but hopefully we will know asap how to continue to make him feel better.

Best,

We love him. Completely non-reactive when my little dog nipped him 3 times. Not deaf. Sweet AF. House broke. Gonna teach him how...
