Ground breaking

All,

This morning during the Board of Supervisor’s meeting, the Public Works Department held a “virtual groundbreaking” for the new Animal Services facility. Rather than the traditional gathering of people on the construction site and set of speeches, the county presented a short video instead.

If you’d like to check it out, it is available on Youtube.

Holiday gifts for the shelter pets

It is very important for us to provide the shelter animals with an enriching, active environment while they are here to prevent stress and help them find their forever homes. This holiday season we want to give each animal an extra special treat for the holidays. We are asking social media to help reach this goal but if you would like to help as well this is the plan.
-For the dogs our goal is to get enough bull sticks for everyone, including the bully stick safety toy.
-For our feline friends the goal is to provide them treat dispenser toys and treats.

Due to covid we are not supposed to take donation that come from peoples homes but all of which can be found on our wish list:

https://www.slocounty.ca.gov/Departments/Health-Agency/Animal-Services/Donations.aspx

Thank you all for your support, have an amazing holiday season and a happy new year!

Shelter collars have a new home.

The shelter collars are now in the volunteer kitchen on the back shelf. Harness are here as well!

Please remember we try to match the dogs level to the color of the collar you put on them and try to only use the martingales.

Level 1: All volunteers can handle = Green

Level 2:The average volunteer can handle = Orange

Level 3:Only advanced volunteers can handle = Purple

Cat Cage cards

I have printed some of the new cat cage cards. I would like to try them out and see what everyone's suggestions are before we have them printed. Our numbers are low but please let me know what you think as soon as you can so we can get thicker ones ordered. The time frames will make more sense when I have finalized and send out the cat enrichment plan!

You can email me or post on the anonymous form:

Lance and Randall update

Firstly, I've changed Lance's name to "Tom Bombadil," and Randall's name to "Beautiful Joe." (like the dog in the book of the same name).

I love them both so much and so happy they are here!  <3 <3 <3

If anyone wants to know more about them, they can feel free to write me!
Below are a couple of photos of them!

Thank you,

Julie O'Connell

Evaluation dogs

 Hey all,

We have a couple quirky dogs that we are trying to get information on right now so we are back to the evaluations form. You will notice that they say "See staff for approval" because we need to make sure there is consistency. Some of the dogs have training programs and even have require specific training to handle them. We all need to work together to ensure the adoptability of our shelter animals and we really appreciate your help! If you have questions please ask contact me or Mario.

Thanks,

Kayla

Remember Bagheera?

I adopted a dog named Bagheera from you over a year ago. She is a black, Brown and white pittie. I wanted to let the wonderful people who volunteer there that she is wonderful, amazing and a joy for my entire family. Without you, I would not have her and that there would be an empty spot in my life. I wish I could send you pics. Thank you!!

Old lab

We love him. Completely non-reactive when my little dog nipped him 3 times. Not deaf. Sweet AF. House broke. Gonna teach him how...
