This blog was originally created for communications with volunteers, hence the old name. As we move forward this will be used to help volunteers and staff to have information and updates about the shelter.

Bosco
Our adorable Bosco went to Pei People Rescue today! With his checkered past he was just not adoptable at our shelter but thanks to our wonderful volunteer Ellen she was able connect him with a rescue that understands him a little better and will find him his forever home.
New shelter
All,
With construction on the new facility now underway, I’m sure
that everyone is interested in monitoring the progress and seeing what’s going
on but for safety reasons, it is important that you not venture on to the
construction site itself.
To satisfy your curiosity, however, a web cam has been
installed overlooking the job site and it regularly posts time lapse photos
which you’re free to check out. When you visit the site, you can choose to look
at just the activity over last 24 hours, or you can see the progress over a
longer period of time. Since we just started construction, there’s not too much
to look at just yet. As we get farther along, though, you might want to go back
and watch the progress over a week, one month, or even since the beginning of the
project.
You can view the web cam footage HERE, by right clicking and following the link.

Ground breaking today!
All,
For the last couple of years we have been putting a lot of
work into getting all of the cities to buy into building a new shelter,
securing the funding, and then developing and fine tuning the architectural
design. That process was completed little earlier this fall and we then
submitted our design plans for review by all of the various regulatory agencies
and entities in order to get the necessary permits and approvals to move
forward with construction.
So, I wanted to take this opportunity and let you all know
that as of about 15 minutes ago, we have received the Notice to Proceed
which is the official permitting approval to begin construction!
With that, you can expect to see grading and the first phases
of actual construction beginning next week.
If all goes well, we’re still on schedule to occupy the new
facility in the first half of 2022.
